Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy & Confidentiality

My client’s privacy is important to me.  We do not share client information with outside entities.  My primary goal is to provide every client with a warm and safe experience in which they feel comfortable to discuss their concerns.  Client confidentiality is state law that requires mental health professionals to protect their client’s privacy by not revealing the contents of therapy.

There are certain exceptions to confidentiality, noted below, with which you should be aware before you enter into a counseling relationship.  Please read through these exceptions, and be sure to ask your therapist if you have any questions.

Exceptions to Confidentiality:

  • As a licensed mental health professional, I am required by law to immediately report suspected child abuse, dependent adult, and elder abuse.

  • As a licensed mental health professional, I am required to notify the police and the intended victim, if a client is threatening to cause serious bodily harm to another person or persons.

  • I will make every effort to secure the client’s cooperation in ensuring their safety, if the client intends to harm himself or herself.  However, if the client does not cooperate, then I will follow safety procedures mandated by law in order to ensure their safety.
