We Care! We're Here For Your Child!

Hello!  I am Brittany Cephas, a Licensed Psychotherapist located in Columbia, Maryland.  I provide mental health services to school-aged children and adolescents who are having a difficult time coping with social and emotional related issues.  I am also a Professional School Counselor; and in this role, I have supported students in grades K– 8 through providing individual and group counseling services, psychoeducational supports, and classroom guidance lessons.  


I have over 14 years of mental health experience in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.  I am passionate about helping my clients thrive.  My approach to treatment is unique because I use mindfulness, motivational interviewing, social skills training, creative expression, and movement that I tailor exclusive needs of my clients.  My style is warm, creative, and fun!  


Most of all, I enjoy building meaningful relationships with my clients; it is fundamental in the work that I do, and I believe it is instrumental to their success.  


Education, Professional Training, and Certifications: I am currently studying to receive my PHD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I have a Master of Education degree in School Counseling from Loyola University Maryland, a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Psychology from Coppin State University, and an Associates of Arts degree in General Studies from the Community College of Baltimore County.  I am a National Certified Counselor, and Certified Yoga Teacher- 20-hour training for children and adolescents. 


My Interests and Other Fun Facts: I am a wife and a mother.  My greatest pastime is spending time with my family, loved ones, and friends.  My favorite color is blue.  My favorite food is pizza and ice cream!  I enjoy baking, shopping, watching movies, trying new foods, and traveling.  



Hello! I am Brittini Johnson, a Licensed Social Worker located in Laurel, Maryland.  I provide mental health services to school-aged children and adolescents who are having a difficult time coping with social and emotional related issues. I am certified as a school social worker and have provided services for special education students as a child study team social worker for grades K-8.  I have provided individual and group counseling services, restorative practices, and introduced effective classroom interventions to ensure academic support to my special education students.  


I have 5 years of mental health experience in the children and adolescent population. I truly enjoy working with my clients and am driven by the progress of their emotional and social development. My approach to treatment is unique because I meet my clients where they are! I use the strengths-based approach to empower them to face their issues from a humanistic point of view. In each session, I strive to be genuine, honest, and supportive.

I have a Master of Social Work from Howard University and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and African Studies.

I enjoy reading and dinner with friends and family in my spare time. I am a true Gemini and my favorite color is green. My favorite food is shrimp and lobster. My favorite hobbies are shopping and Netflix! 



Hello! I am Michaelle Andre (ME-KA-YEL), a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in Prince George’s County, MD. I was born and raised in Prince George’s County however I completed my clinical training  in New York and Connecticut. My passion for the mental health field stemmed from my community growing up and being able to one day give back. I enjoy working children and adolescents needing help with self- identity, anxiety, depression, and goal setting skills.   


I have been in the mental health field for 5 years. I began my work with autistic young adults and from then providing care coordination,  individual counseling, parent guided sessions, and group therapy with children aged 5-18 in Stamford, CT. My group therapy was art therapy based for young girls dealing with anxiety, depression, and social anxiety to learn art as coping skills. During this time I also guided parents with advocating for the needs of their child(ren) by navigating special education systems, community supports, and necessary evaluations.

I have a Master of Mental Health Counseling from Nyack Graduate School located in New York, NY and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland.

I enjoy all things creative from photography, graphic design, fashion, art and self expression. I love to read, travel the world, go to the gym and try new restaurants with friends.  



Hello! I am Dr. SyQuon Shaw, a Certified QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Professional). I provide mental health services to children, adolescents and families who may be experiencing difficulties in family dynamics, education, behavioral management, identifying coping mechanism, and suicide prevention. I have been providing mental health services since 2010 working with nonverbal and verbal individuals that are diagnosed with autism to being a Clinical mentor for adolescents and teens with behavioral disorders in the home and in school settings.  


I have over 7 years of experience working with children and adolescents from different ages, backgrounds, life experiences and race.  My approach to treatment is unique because before diving into intervention I understand the importance of building a rapport and gaining trust which will allow the intervention and sessions to become more effective in a positive way. I have a great sense of humor, creative expression, support, warm and welcoming approach. I am passionate in seeing all clients strive for greatness and applying themselves to their full potential by listening to understand.

I have a Doctorate of Social Work from Capella University. I have a Master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in Clinical Services specializing in Children and families from University of Maryland. Also, I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Howard University studying Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I am a Certified Personal Care Aide, QMHP-Qualified Mental Health Professional, Clinical Mental Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist and Therapeutic day treatment Counselor.


My Interests and Other Fun Facts:

I enjoy being around family, friends and loved ones. I enjoy working out, running and dancing (choreographing), traveling, watching funny movies, making others laugh and singing karaoke. I am the first generation to obtain a bachelor and master’s degree in my family. I enjoy meditation and reading books! I am an Aquarius and my favorite color is purple. My favorite food is shrimp, salmon, chicken and last but not least homemade mac & cheese. 

Hello, I am Carolyn Thorpe, a Licensed Graduate Counseling professional located in Laurel, MD. I am a school counselor by training with experience working with middle school adolescents to accomplish their personal and academic goals. I utilize a humanistic approach to introduce new skills and affirm the strengths each child already possesses to help them thrive. I provided individual and group counseling sessions on trauma, racial identity development, anxiety, communication and attachment.

I hold a masters degree in school counseling, a bachelor's degree in psychology and am currently a doctoral student of the Social
Justice focused Counselor Education and Supervision doctoral program at Bowie State University. I am also a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor.

I love baking and cooking in my spare time. On the weekends I enjoy reading, trying new
restaurants, spending time with family and friends and cuddling with my dog Coco. My favorite
color is purple and I like coloring and journaling.


Hello! I am Shannel Blake, a licensed counselor located in Baltimore, Md. I am originally from Bronx, New York and have been living in Maryland since I was a teenager.  My goal is to provide therapeutic support for children who are struggling with trauma, adjustment, and social issues.  I am passionate about helping children and adolescents because healthy mental health starts from a very young age. Providing a supportive emotional environment will help give them the tools they can use for the rest of their life!


I have over 3 years of working in the mental health field in different settings. I have worked with youth and adults at trauma faculties, school settings and crisis centers. My approach to counseling is unique because I use techniques designed to make therapy comfortable and manageable! I do this by offering relaxing methods before sessions to encourage feelings of safety. I also only use therapeutic styles that will best meet my client’s needs.

Hello! I am Michaela Higginbotham, a graduate student currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Bowie State University. I have worked as both a peer tutor and a registered behavioral therapist, providing services for children and adolescents on the autism spectrum. In addition, I have experience supporting individuals and families navigating transracial adoption, dyslexia, and food allergies.


I am passionate about helping others recognize their strengths and unique gifts. My approach is person-centered and supportive, focusing on helping individuals identify and achieve their goals, live authentically, and build meaningful connections with others. I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to grow, heal, and thrive in a way that feels true to who they are.
